<html><head><meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"></head><body dir="auto"><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr">Hello!<div><br></div><div>This may be a little late, but we have a DemocracyLab day-long event happening TOMORROW (US time) to refine the validation tool for accessible sidewalk collections. <div>In a nutshell- we at OpenSidewalks have been funded by Microsoft to create city teams and mobilize people to do sidewalk collections in 5 large Latin American cities. </div><div>Some of our city teams have really gone forward and took off! Others have had a slower start because mapping, as you know, is not necessarily natural for all people.</div><div><br></div><div>Our next step, the validation step, has been difficult for my very small team, so we have created a python tool to at least do something like 'spell checking' on the sidewalks and crossings that the teams have collected. </div><div><br></div><div>The objective of tomorrow's hackathon has three prongs (depending on who joins our team and how many of us there are):</div><div><b>1) continue to enhance the validation script</b></div><div><b>2) continue to map and validate by hand some of the additions that the LATAM city teams have made</b></div><div><br></div><div>if enough of you on this list join, I would love to also have the third conversation (which we have been having internally) about </div><div><b>3) an OSM proposal for surface conditions and other accessibility barriers along highway=footway line elements.</b></div><div><br></div><div>PLEASE do sign up if you can.
