revamped, and GIS data in its new projection and format have not been<br>
placed on the revamped web site yet. Current data requests are being<br>
filled by placing ArcInfo .e00 interchange files or Zipped shapefiles on<br>
our anonymous FTP site. I would need to know specifically which data you<br>
are requesting. Some of our datasets such as roads and trails are currently<br>
under major revisions.<br>

The website you mention below does include base map data for published<br>
Forest Service 1:24000 maps or Alaska 1:63360 maps. This includes all<br>

Cartographic Feature Files -- CFFs include: roads and trails, streams,<br>
water bodies, political and administrative boundaries, land ownership, and<br>
constructed features. CFFs contain the vector representation of the point<br>
and line features shown on published Forest Service 1:24000 maps (except<br>
Alaska which are 1:63,360 maps). Elevation contours, vegetation, and text<br>
(geographic names, labels, etc.) are not included in the CFF. Note, these<br>
maps are revised and published on a cyclical basis and may not reflect<br>
current conditions. See the associated metadata files for complete<br>
information. The CFF data does not necessarily contain the same information<br>
as in Forest Service GIS databases maintained by individual National<br>
Forests and Grasslands.<br>

If you want to download local GIS data from each Forest where it is<br>
available, you can visit the WWW websites for each Forest and check for GIS<br>
links, usually under the Maps & Brochures main menu item on the left.<br>

Hi Jaimie, I called you earlier today (Friday, 27 June, 2008) about getting<br>
GIS datasets for Mt. Hood National Forest. If you could provide me with a<br>
link to the data, we could import it soon. We can only accept data that is<br>
in the public domain, or that has copyright compatible with the<br>
OpenStreetMap License. Someone else on the project identified<br>
<a href="http://svinetfc4.fs.fed.us/vectorgateway/index.html" target="_blank">http://svinetfc4.fs.fed.us/vectorgateway/index.html</a> as a potential<br>
datasource, is your information included in this data? Also, if you could<br>
point me to a source for data for other states and forests, that would be<br>
fantastic.<br>

worthwhile to wait until those are complete (depending on their timeframe). The existing TIGER roads
may or may not be okay (depending how much editing has taken place),
but it would be nice to have an independent, updated data source to
confirm or correct existing data. I think the trail data would be
worthwhile in any case, though.<br><br>Also, Jaimie asked for what data you're requesting. Do you know what's available? It's tempting to say "everything" but that might put a big burden on your contact, and it's likely to include data that's not of interest to OSM.<br>
