Potlatch doesn't ever "automagically" change any tags or hide any values[1].
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE put bug reports in trac, I really can't keep track of
them if they're posted to one of several mailing lists and forums.

Double apologies in fact: I'm being a bit over-aggressive with the
title of the thread. It should have been "*Possible* bug in Potlatch
0.10f".<br>

I posted here first just to check if anyone was going to chip in with
"no, no, it happens in JOSM too". Then we'd suspect a bug in the
underlying database maybe. But no-one's commented yet. *Is* there a
similar problem in JOSM does anyone know?<br>
