
<html><body style="word-wrap: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; -webkit-line-break: after-white-space; ">Dev- <div><br></div><div>Some of you may be interested in this new tool (feel free to forward around).</div><div><br></div><div>I've recently wrote a python plugin to QGIS (<a href="http://qgis.org/">http://qgis.org/</a>) which allows you to style and render Mapnik maps on-the-fly as well as export Mapnik xml, all within the graphical interface of QGIS.</div><div><div><br></div><div>It works well for quick, from-scratch styling of OSM data in shapefile or postgis formats (I plan to add direct read support for osm xml soon), and thrives at quickly developing the complex symbolization needed for chloropleth map display. It does this because QGIS does this (and by mapping all QGIS styles and layers to Mapnik definitions).</div><div><br></div><div>Future plans are aimed at the plugin being a top notch way to create high resolution OSM maps for print/publication.</div><div><br>There is also basic support for loading existing Mapnik XML for dynamic browsing/rendering. In this sense, if you are running a Mapnik server, this tool offers an easy way to get quick views of your styles on your desktop as you work.</div><div><br>Wiki and source is at:<br><a href="http://bitbucket.org/springmeyer/quantumnik/">http://bitbucket.org/springmeyer/quantumnik/</a><br><br>Screencasts for installation and usage can be found at:<br><a href="http://dbsgeo.com/">http://dbsgeo.com/</a><br><br>The latest release can be downloaded from:<br><a href="http://qgis.dbsgeo.com/">http://qgis.dbsgeo.com/</a><br><br></div><div>Any and all feedback is welcome.</div><div><br>Cheers,<br><br>Dane Springmeyer<br></div></div></body></html>
