This was a great success, schools are a common feature so everyone had<br>
a chance to contribute. We have access to a government database of<br>
schools and were able to add missing schools and also add additional<br>
information and improve the mapping. A lot of changing from node to<br>
area was done as well as moving tags to the campus. Tagging buildings<br>
doesn't really work as most schools have multiple buildings.<br>

Schools are relatively easy to armchair, the project was done during<br>
the dark evenings, as they are large and surrounded by sports fields<br>
making them distinctive on imagery. <br>

The database also contains Nurseries so many of those were added as<br>
part of the project.<br>

I am not sure that I understand what is missing here, we have mapped<br>
Nursery Schools as amenity=kindergarten which has no English meaning<br>
and is one of the American terms we use in OSM such as sidewalk. I know<br>
it is German for Childrens Garden.<br>

Nursery Schools offer pre school education for 3 and 4 year old and<br>
many offer babycare and after school/school holiday care. All 3 and 4<br>
year olds are entitled to 15 hours free Nursery Education a week, these<br>
are verifiable and are/can be mapped.<br>

Other childcare is provided by Registered Childminders, these are<br>
contactable through adverts/social services, but are in private homes<br>
and are not something we can or should map.<br>

I am not sure what else there is to map in this category but open to<br>
suggestions.<br>

Where I live these are provided through the general healthcare, either<br>

local hospitals. They are not standalone facilities.<br>

Not something I have ever come across, as far as I am aware in the UK<br>

As a European this was something that had never occurred to me. The<br>
norm is that there will be a male/female/unisex disabled. <br>

Mapping the gender had never occurred to me until I was at an interesting talk at SOTM Brussels. <br>

Locally there is a big drive to add Welsh language names to OSM,. At the weekend I was at a concert that was a bit Welsh and a bit Cornish Synth Pop. I'm not sure Cornish is anywhere near the coverage Welsh has. <br>

As a community we are mostly from a techie background that generally puts us into a middle class background. We do not attract mappers from social housing for example. Just off the top of my head shops offering topups for prepayment meters, social clubs, bingo halls but that is me, a middle class engineer without a clue. <br>
