to start experimenting on an OSM server instance. Even today, met some folks studying agent based models of slum development using OSM (really!) and they need historic OSM too. Jeff, what's next? Do we need to find a server somewhere?
Lots of historic mapping talk at this weekend's SotM US in PDX.

For those of you unable to attend, here are some items that were discussed - others, please add to items I've missed:

- Lots of great attendees from this list, which made for some excellent conversation
- There appears to be an interest in putting together historic base maps for some potential test cases, using a Rails port instance (a parallel version of OSM) somewhere. I'm going to start going through the process of trying to set that up shortly... : ) I believe Flickr (Eric Gelinas) & MapStory.org (Alyssa Wright), at a minimum, are interested tile consumers. I believe we have some contacts at History Pin, as well. Any advice on putting together a plan for this would be great. Bartring any input, I'll put together a (naive) rough set of next steps in the near future.
- I posted my slides on OSM & Online Time Machines at http://www.slideshare.net/gwhathistory/osm-and-online-time-machines-sotm-us-2012-pdx
- Eric showed off Flickr already doing some time-based basemap variations for Burning Man

Any thoughts on starting to build out a Historic section of the Wiki? Good/bad?

Thanks,
Jeff
