<div><br></div><div>* Imports? Yes, please! (emphatically) - HO will be very (very) import friendly. It's pretty tough to do ground surveys of historical data in many cases, eh? That said, nothing will prevent the use of traditional OSM ground survey techniques and data entry to confirm or augment the information in the database. The beauty is, there are a ton of existing OSM import tools we should be able to leverage to make this easy in many cases.</div>
<div><br></div><div>* LinkedData? Yes, please, as well. I believe (and I'd like to get others' opinions on this (and all) HO topics) HO will end up being a little more academically-oriented than mainstream OSM. For instance, my guess is that we'll want to use the source: tag a little more aggressively than OSM does, and to provide the ability to have multiple sources for individual attributes, for confirmation or dispute tracking. As such, supporting emerging semantic web ontologies might provide a good opportunity for increasing the value (and utility) of HO.</div>
<div><br></div><div>* What you didn't ask, but I think may be inherent in your question: how to (or should we) map very temporary types of objects in HO or what should the time interval / snapshot frequency be? I don't know, but we may want to figure out some sort of rendering strategy that combines static base maps with more animated overlays for higher frequency changes. I have no clue. But! That's what we're here to discuss. Hopefully, we can set up something that supports multiple approaches.</div>

I've been working on a linked open data project called Muninn [1] that deals with the First World War records. The majority of the geo data from the project is historical in nature and deals with things that either no longer exist or that have been repurposed.<br>

Examples include the REGINA allied trench that is now a farmer's field and a section of trenches near Vimy Ridge that have been since converted into a permanent memorial.<br>

Other interesting things include troop positions, battle lines, artillery fire plans, graves sites (temporary and permanent) and even a few telephone networks in use by the Canadian army on the western front.<br>

I'd like to get involved with HOSM, I will be online for the meeting this week but a few questions / thoughts for now:<br>

* The 'mainstream' OSM has long frowned upon automated imports. Most of the data I create involves a script and batch process; could we bend this rule in order to streamline some data exchange?<br>
* Currently, <a href="http://linkedgeodata.org/" target="_blank">http://linkedgeodata.org/</a> provides a bridge from OSM to LOD. Could we consider a similar bridge / interface for this?<br>
