The academic world tends to release things CC-BY-NC-SA, but recent German case law interprets that as 'for private use only', e.g., publication in a journal published by a for-profit company, even if the author receives no payment, would (quite rightly IMO) be deemed commercial.<br><br></div>This does raise a problem because many in the digital humanities are fine with CC-BY-NC-SA, there is no consensus to accept eliminating the non-commercial restriction.
