<div dir="ltr">Hi all - <div><br></div><div>Just had a quick chat with Jeff Ferzoco's about his project, The Hidden Geography of New York's Gay Nightlife ( <a href="https://zingbot.github.io/OUTgoing/">https://zingbot.github.io/OUTgoing/</a>), and I'm thinking we'll want to talk about it as a group for longer than just the lightning round at SotM.</div><div><br></div><div>Key issues for him for this app that I took away from the conversation:</div><div><br></div><div>- Crowdsourcing workflow</div><div> -- Is iD even too heavy? My guess is maybe yes for just adding POI's, name, </div><div> -- How to curate</div><div><br></div><div>- Data</div><div> -- Tagging for curation status</div><div><br></div><div>- Dates</div><div> -- Handling approximate date ranges</div><div><br></div><div>- Filtering (duh!) / rendering</div><div> -- For static snapshots in time</div><div> -- For animations of say, point data</div><div><br></div><div>I've encouraged him to consider using OHM as his data repository for his app's POI data, but it's not clear we have a good solution for him yet that's not too heavy. </div><div><br></div><div>As an example, I've added a data point for Pennyfeathers from OUTgoing to OHM <a href="http://www.openhistoricalmap.org/node/2083292070">here</a> & tagged it up a bit. One interesting part here is that the existing buildings imported into NYC are from prior to the building of 7th Avenue, so Pennyfeathers appears to be in the middle of a city block. </div><div><br></div><div>Another question is: how could Jeff extract data from OHM to overlay in his current Leaflet/CartoDB base tile example?</div><div><br></div><div>Any thoughts, suggestions, volunteers interested in helping ?</div><div><br></div><div>- Jeff</div><div><br></div><div><div><br></div>-- <br><div class="gmail_signature"><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr"><font size="1">Jeff Meyer<br>Global World History Atlas<br><a href="http://www.gwhat.org" target="_blank">www.gwhat.org</a><br><a href="mailto:jeff@gwhat.org" target="_blank">jeff@gwhat.org</a><br>206-676-2347</font><div><font size="1"><br></font></div><div><span style="font-size:x-small">OpenStreetMap: Mapping with a Human Touch</span><font size="1"><br></font><div><span style="font-size:x-small">osm: <a href="http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Open_Historical_Map" target="_blank">Open Historical Map (OHM)</a> / <a href="http://www.openstreetmap.org/user/jeffmeyer" target="_blank">my OSM user page</a></span></div><div><font size="1">t: <a href="https://twitter.com/GWHAThistory" target="_blank">@GWHAThistory</a> / @OpenHistMap </font></div><div></div><div><font size="1">f: <a href="https://www.facebook.com/GWHAThistory" target="_blank">GWHAThistory</a></font></div><div><br></div><div><font size="1"><br></font><br></div></div></div></div></div></div>
