Thanks guys for the tips.
Simone's GPS Status (& Toolbox) fixed the GPS fix problem of my Samsung
Galaxy Tab 7" (running Android 2.2) in less than 10 minutes (total)! No
need for rooting, not to mention sending the device back for repair :)
I thought that it would make sense to add this kind of information (as in
Useful tips for mappers for solving problems with Android) somewhere with a
sensible URL. So I did and added the key information from this thread to
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Android . If someone thinks there'd be a
better place for this information pls let me know and I'm happy to move the
