Hi,<br>
I would say we should tag roads with highway=road as a default
if we cannot<br>
state about if it is a path or a track and if it is not an
obvious<br>
residential road.<br>
Regarding unclassified/tertiary/secondary, IMHO it is quite
difficult to<br>
tqg this on a TM squre cause we need to have a larger overview
to decide.<br>

Same problem in Madagascar. But also using road, we will wait
for<br>
years before a field mapper can check the road and change the<br>
classification. So, there is a tendency to use unclassified by
default<br>
and to change it to tertiary if we have some other
informations like<br>
the main access to "commune" main town.<br>

Hi,<br>
this is the Eurosha volunteers from CAR, currently in refuge
in Cameroun.<br>
So far we have been using this convention (for Bangui and a
few cities<br>
taken by the rebels). We have chosen this classification based
on the<br>
importance of the roads (not necessarily the size or surface).<br>
<br>
- Primary - The main axes connecting the biggest cities and
a the most<br>
important roads in Bangui.<br>
- Secondary - The roads connecting big cities with villages
and a bit<br>
less important roads in Bangui.<br>
- Tertiary - not really used except for a few roads in
Bangui<br>
- Residential - used for all the roads where houses are
around<br>
- Tracks - the small roads going outside the residential
areas<br>
- Path - little roads just for pedestrians, not big enough
for a car<br>
(however, the Centralafricans consider every road big
enough for a car :))<br>
<br>
For an example, check the city of Bria (<a
moz-do-not-send="true"
href="http://tasks.hotosm.org/job/134" target="_blank">http://tasks.hotosm.org/job/134</a>),<br>
feel free to have a look at the whole city, it is not big.<br>
We are going to add the typology of roads on the wiki page for
CAR (<br>
<a moz-do-not-send="true"
href="http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/WikiProject_Central_African_Republic"
target="_blank">http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/WikiProject_Central_African_Republic</a>)<br>
but before that we will be happy for more suggestions on this.<br>
<br>
Sincerely<br>
