Hi All,

It's been really great to start knowing you more during
this last month, I'm eventually identifying a bit better who's behind
all those names one can see on HOT lists and projects!
Becoming a voting member has been good news! It felt as a recognition of
many efforts made to improve geodata availability for the many during
crisis, but also as an invitation to become more involved!

More
on myself? Environmental engineer fond of mapping, I have several years
of experience with international organizations and in different places
as GIS expert. While I had known about OSM project quite earlier, I
subscribed in 2009 and started to extensively use its data in the early
days following Haiti earthquake, while I was supposed to map PaP from
some UN headquarters in Europe. I was totally amazed by the speed the
map grew at that time.

Originally from Belgium, I've been spending most of my time in the
Democratic Republic of Congo for the last 3 years, where I even gave
birth recently to a small Congolese boy. I'm now doing some scientific
research for a geography uni department and volunteering for the Common
Geographic Referential (national platform of geographic data for DRC).

My own HOT story began in Nov. 2012 when asked to coordinate field
needs for the Kivus DRC Activation. Since then, I made my best to keep
close contact and inform humanitarian staff in DRC about HOT/OSM
opportunities to support them improving their field operations through
imagery requests, remote mapping and so on. I am still the focal point
of OSM in DRC and I'd like to thank again all of you who took part
in some of those tasks, it's been really appreciated on the ground.

From time to time, I also organize "newbies" mapping parties in
Kinshasa, with the hope that little a little the number of local
contributors in DRC will increase and take part in responding to their
internal crises. Moreover I'm convinced that open-data and OSM will make
a difference in economic development perspectives.

Congratulations to the other recent voting members and thank you to the old ones for welcoming us.
I am looking forward contributing with you for a change this year!
