Refugees are often resettled in a country where the society, culture and language are entirely different and new to them. For resettlement to be durable and effective, refugees need to be provided the support and opportunities that are needed to facilitate their integration. It is not the quantity of refugees resettled, but rather how well they are received and supported in the process of becoming full participants in their new communities.<o:p></o:p></p><p>Providing for their effective reception and integration is part of the work of resettlement agencies, such as the African Community Center (ACC). The ACC helps with the resettlement and integration of over 500 “community members” within the Denver metro area annually.
