<div dir="ltr">Hi Rafael<div><br></div><div>Sounds like it has changed little over the years then. I spent a lot of time there in the 80's. mostly up at Gizo, on diving trips. Beautiful area. Was able to spend a day on the Island that the future President Kennedy swum to when his PT boat sunk. A lot of fascinating history in the area.</div>

I had been in the Solomons 2 years ago. Except for some 3 or 4 story<br>
buildings in Honiara, all people live in brick or wood huts in the<br>
Solomons. More damaging than earthquakes can be tsunamis, like the one<br>
that damaged badly the Temotu province islands, just a couple of months<br>
after I left. Temotu province is the most remote of the provinces and<br>
where I spent most of my time.<br>

Most of people in the Solomons didn't have any internet access or email,<br>
so the only contacts were in person or by phone. The only few contacts I<br>
had in Honiara were phone numbers, and I don't have them with me (I am<br>
now in Nigeria). Except for a retired australian teacher who actually<br>
had good contacts with the government, the rest of people were local<br>
people and hotel owners.<br>

I am happy that Honiara is now well mapped (it was quite poorly mapped 2<br>
years ago). I had many POI's and some GPS traces of some islands. I<br>
uploaded the traces, but lost somewhere the POI's that I had written<br>
down in a paper. A pity, as some of those POI's I collected them in<br>
islands who receive a boat each 2-3 months... :(<br>
