Hi,

Thanks to the generosity of those very nice folks at Transifex, [1]
we are now using their services for the translations of LearnOSM
[2].

If you would like to help with the ongoing translations, please
visit the Transifex website [1] and search for 'HOT-OSM', and you
will find LearnOSM listed there. If you're new to the site you will
have to apply for a login, then apply to become a HOT translator.
I've only seen it from the 'managing a site' side of things, but it
all seems very simple.

There is guidance for new translators within the site, and a link
'help pages' which leads to a guidance wiki on translating for
LearnOSM [3]

You'll see there are several modules of LearnOSM uploaded and ready
for translation - can you make sure the file 'essential_setup.txt'
is fully translated first, as we need that one to add the correct
labels and text to the homepage and links within the site. After
that I suggest the beginner modules will be the most helpful, and
statistically the most popular (followed by 'osm-data' then
'mobile-mapping'). There were over 11,000 visitors to the site in
July, so you can judge yourself how valuable your contribution could
be.

We're reviewing the modules before adding them to Transifex for
translation, so you may find a few are not there yet - give us time,
please as we're trying to make sure that everything is up-to-date.
I'm afraid that sometimes we have to update a module after it is
translated, so you may find, on rare occasions, that the module you
have already finished gets a further face lift and some of the
sentences will need amending (just the alterations will need a
further translation).

Our grateful thanks to those that have translated for LearnOSM in
the past, and we hope to see more of your efforts pass through this
much easier system and on into LearnOSM in the future.

Any feedback is always welcome.
