Hi Sailor Jerry -

Love your rum!

If you haven't seen this page, it should contain most of Greg's questions: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Import/Guidelines

If it doesn't contain some of Greg's questions, please add 'em in.

Also - there's a template for an import web page at:

If you cut and paste the wiki text from this to your page & fill it out, you should also have covered plenty of these bases.

http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Import/Plan_Outline

Again, if it doesn't cover some of Greg's points, please fix it so it does.

The import page is missing a lot of explanations. Specifically, I would
suggest adding at least:

a more precise description of the source data; that points to a page
with a lot of stuff on it

an explanation of why this data is compatible with the CT

an explanation of your evaluation of the accuracy of the source data

pointers to the preprocessed data files in osm format that you plan to
upload

how you plan to avoid conflicts with data already present in osm
(typically, there is some process of not adding a node if the node is
already there, and leaving the hard cases for manual inpsection)

what tool will be used for upload, and how that can be reverted if
trouble

do you have a staged plan for doing a bit and taking a pause while
people look for trouble?

the account does not look like an import-only account. Surely you
intend to manually map as well, so perhaps you should register
Sailor%20Jerry-import-noaa or some such for the import. You may also
want to do a bit more manual mapping before importing. If you have
another account, it seems good to have the import account point to
that account so that people can connect the importer with the regular
mapper.

I would also suggest that you review the last few months of archives.

It looks like there are already some uploads of imported data going on,
which is contrary to the propose/review cycle for automated edits.

(I'm not conceptually opposed to imports, but they are very hard to get
right.)
