I too download the whole CANVEC sheet area in JOSM. I often import overtop of Mr. Dunn’s previous GeoBC road imports, but they are rarely, if ever in conflict. I always retain his GeoBC road imports and delete the CANVEC unless they are not present in the GeoBC layer. Without seeing an example, I really can’t give an explanation of what’s happening. As far as my CANVEC importing goes, all but a handful have been on Vancouver Island. I’ve stumbled upon and fixed other peoples’ duplicated data in the past, but I haven’t knowingly duplicated data myself.
