<HTML><BODY>Dear OSM community,<br>This is an announcement and request for comments, suggestions, and approval of land cover information data import for the territory of Sweden.<br><br>* Import plan: [1]<br>* Raster data source: Sweden's Environmental Protection Agency (Naturvårdsverket) [5]<br>* Data license: CC0<br>* Data URL: [3]<br><br>The whole importing effort is expected to split into at least 290 pieces, one per county (kommun).<br>Initial chunks of import data will be submitted using a dedicated account called Atakua-imports (my primary account is called Atakua).<br>Later, to distribute the work, other accounts controlled by additional volunteers from the talk-se community may be used.<br>Work distribution and coordination, including information about accounts used for importing data for subareas, is tracked in this table: [6]<br><br>A local mailing list thread dedicated to discussion of this import, technical problems of data conversion, filtering, validation etc.: [4]<br>A lot of technical details about the source data conversion, cleanup and conflict resolution are covered in the import plan and custom processing scripts [11]. I am willing to address any concerns not covered by existing documentation.<br><br>To get a first impression about this import, please take a look at the following OSM-datasets prepared for three separate counties.<br><br>1. Staffantorp county [10], in fact, requires no import at all because present land cover data is already good enough.<br>2. Stockholm county [8]. New land cover data remaining after conflation [9] consists of less than a 100 objects for that subarea. Most likley, it is not worth pursuing importing anything for this county either — forests there are already well mapped.<br>3.
