<div dir="auto">Normally you don't split data in the same way the task manager splits the job. It just makes for too much work both for loading and fixing afterwards. If a feature crosses a tasking manager boundary it'll be validated on the other side by the other task.</div><br><div class="gmail_quote"><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_attr">On Sun, Aug 14, 2022, 14:57 James Crawford via Imports <<a href="mailto:imports@openstreetmap.org">imports@openstreetmap.org</a>> wrote:<br></div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0 0 0 .8ex;border-left:1px #ccc solid;padding-left:1ex">

<p class="MsoNormal">Hi,</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> </p>
<p class="MsoNormal">I’ve been working on reviving the Florida
landuse import that was started by Hiausirg in February 2022. </p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> </p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The main issues I’ve addressed:</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent:.5in">For a couple of the
more ambiguous values, I opted to skip importing in order to
reduce the amount of potentially poor quality data that would
enter the map.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent:.5in">I’ve created a buffer
zone around all the roads in the county, this is standard
procedure in landuse mapping in Alabama, and in my opinion it’s
easier to work with data that is offset from the road rather than
having a line that draws generally to the centerline of the road.
</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent:.5in">This is not a solo
effort. We will be importing via the tasking manager by clipping
data to the boundary of the tasks and joining the data at the
boundary of the tasks after manually reviewing the data present in
the task. The tasking manager will be split into 10km by 10km
cells to reduce workload and make it easier to validate the data
quality.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent:.5in">I improved on
asdfjkll’s original extract by making the bounding box I used to
clip the data to exactly match the coastline data on OpenStreetMap
so there should be no issue with clipping in the ocean. I’ve also
clipped exactly to the boundary of the other data that Hiausirg
has already imported, so there should be no issue with overlap
there either.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">What I still need help with:</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span> </span>I’m
not sure how to make the tasking manager have custom boundaries
for each task. If someone could show me how to generate a
shapefile with this information, I would greatly appreciate it.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span> </span>I
also don’t know the details of how I should be extracting pieces
of the data to match the tasks grid. I figure I could use the clip
tool in QGIS to make a shapefile of the task that is being worked
on, but I would like to know if there is a less cumbersome way to
do this.</p>

is a folder with 2 shapefiles. In the “current” folder I have
provided the full dataset that I have processed.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">In the “sample” folder I provide a smaller
extract if you would like a sample of the data and its quality.</p>
