as a way to provide the aforementioned users with a tool for searching

</blockquote></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div>I have looked at the import plan how you intend to merge existing addresses and found this sentence: "In Italy, address data must be placed exclusively on nodes because
the housenumber identifies the external access that leads from the
street to the housing units (houses, stores, offices, etc). Therefore
addresses placed on buildings will be removed."<p><br></p><p>Please note that in OSM, the tag "addr:housenumber" is not only used for housenumbers (feature on its own), but also for the housenumber as part of an address (property of something), therefore I do not believe it is acceptable to remove these housenumbers when they are on a feature.</p><p><br></p><p>Cheers,</p><p>Martin<br></p><p><br></p></div></div>
