Hi all,

given the growing complexity of maintaining a mailing list and
keeping it up to spec - I think it's a good idea to focus the
energy of this community on the things that matter most.

I've been reading how removing the mailing list would be as
treating the mail-community as second class citizens. Currently,
anyone tangently interested in the ongoings — will need to follow
the Discourse AND the mailing list. Since these aren't mirrors,
they contain different content. One could argue that requiring
mailing list for a small percentage, is actually treating the
discourse community as seconds class citizens. Without even really
being involved in the OSMF, even I felt kind of insulted by the
insinuation of laziness or malevolence. But let's not go there and
avoid that kind of drama.

This mailing list isn't up to technical standards (e.g. the
unsubscribe link is missing from the footer, which could be
considered a GDPR-violation — the DKIM-records aren't configured
correctly causing these mails to more likely land in spam in
certain environments — and that's just at first glance). I don't
have the time or skills to configure the server better myself. I
also don't want to impose others with these numbing tasks.

So while my lazy ass kinda enjoyed lurking the mailing list... I
think it would improve communications if every message was to be
found in one place and if it relieves some burden off volunteers,
I'm all for that too.

To all the OSM-volunteers: thanks for all the great work you're
doing and doing your magic on those imports that aren't always as
friendly to OSM as we would want them to be.

Greetings,
