Just talking from our own experience here. The Belgian instant messaging group started on Slack. It was a major
hit. Now it's an even bigger succes on the open Matrix/Riot network. The
switch did not happen because some people said Slack was evil. It happened because
some people investigated options, explained them to people who were
uncomfortable with the alternative and coached the entire group to the
new network. In short, it happened because we had a group first, and
then believers put in the work to change those practices. That way, believing in open source can be something you acquire during your OpenStreetMap carreer, and not be a prerequisite to actually starting it. Just like mapping, open source solutions should be infectious and contagious - not a hurdle to take.<br></div><div><br></div><div>I absolutely agree with Christoph's recommendations - point b) was also in my original post here.</div><div></div><div><br></div>
