[Merkaartor] using a WMS with EPSG:31287

Hello!

Austrias authorities have launched a WMS with areal images in good
resolution covering the whole nation. It is explicitely allowed to use
it for OSM. However, the projection is EPSG:31287, which means that
map units are in meters, not degree. 

I tried to define the projection in the projection editor, and
Merkaartor switches to the projection, but the backgrund images don't
work (grey background). Most likely this is because of the map units.

Any ideas, anyone?

BTW: the proj4 parameters for EPSG:31287 are:
