After some more testing here some fixes for
- better zooming (using mouse wheel and double click (with ctrl to
zoom out))
- providing a context menu to delete loaded images and copying
image filename to clipboard
- correct timestamps from gpx files (they are in UTC). I inserted
setTimeSpec(Qt::UTC) in ImportGPX.cpp
- faster loading of images (they are loaded when clicking on the
node they belong to, not when openening the images)

Christ Browet: thanks for committing. can you commit this patch too,
please? Note that I used GEOIMAGE but not GEOTAG as define-value for
qmake.

bests,
Note however that I didn't test the patch (only that everything is fine
without GEOTAG=1).
My main development environment is Visual Studio, and compiling exiv2
with MSVC doesn't seem trivial at all...

now you can open geotagged images containing coordinates in their
header and view them in a dock widget where the filename is shown too.
You can also zoom. The files all belong to the root directory.

@admins: can you add my changes to the svn-tree?
Hope it works fine now,

I prefer the way AgPifoJ does it (in a separate dock, with zoom function).
What I'm missing there is that it doesn't show the filename and it's not
possible to open the image fullsize in a popup window.
