How about the following?
$ echo 1507003.249 1473733.624 | invproj -f %f +init=epsg:2258
According to the data in OSM, it's on the other side of the road as the
correct location. Is that accurate enough?
>From what I see, you're already using OGR. Have you tried the following? It
should convert the shapefile with state plane coordinates into a shapefile
with WGS84 coordinates.
$ ogr2ogr -t_srs EPSG:4326 shapefile_wgs84.shp shapefile.shp
