Sorry, I'm struggling with this again. Part of a 10 node way is duplicated by a 3 node way. I middle click on the duplicated section and up comes a dialog with the two ways listed. Keeping the middle button down (otherwise the dialog disappears), I move the mouse pointer until the 3 node way is highlighted in blue and left click. I then release the middle button and the dialog disappears. However, nothing is highlighted for me to delete. I've tried in zoom, select and delete modes but I can't anything to work correctly.
times

Hi,

I've being fixing some validator errors in JOSM and
I seem to have a road that is in the database 3 times.
The area I am
looking at is : http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=53.6488&lon=-2.8153&zoom=14&layers=B000FTF

The
A59 north-south (approx. Sollom - Rufford) was showing up as an overlapping
highway. I picked a node in the middle of the way and tried to split it to
narrow down where the problem was but JOSM reported that the node was used in
more than one way. Looking at the history of the node :

http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/node/34487237

I
see that it is used in three identical overlapping ways :

http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/way/27548942
http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/way/27548961
http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/way/27561103

How
can I sort this out?

Antony

If using JOSM a click of the middle button whilst the cursor is over the
way brings up a dialog box listing the three ways.

Whilst the dialog is open hold down the left mouse button and you can select
any of the ways individually.

Select a way and delete it, then repeat process to delete the third
way.

Before doing the above I would :

1) check that all ways have the same tags, so you will not delete w way with
extra information

2) check each way starts and ends at the same point as each of the other two
ways.
