I sometimes like to trace rivers from the landsat wms images in Guyana. They're not very good quality but it works. Now Mapnik doesn't render waterway=river at low zoom levels so I switch to Osmarender to survey larger areas and see where there's not many rivers traced yet. I've done this a bit and was wondering how Guyana was starting to compare to nearby countries and how much river density there is in OSM.<div>
<br></div><div>So I zoom out a bit and look around to find this <a href="http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=-10.21&lon=-57.34&zoom=7&layers=O">neat little area</a>.</div><div><br></div><div>At first I was zoomed out further and it looked like a blue square of random static but on checking it with the WMS there are indeed little rivers and streams in those areas. It's an IBGE import (<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brazilian_Institute_of_Geography_and_Statistics">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brazilian_Institute_of_Geography_and_Statistics</a>) of that area and the waterways do agree very roughly so it is useful as a first draft. Keep that up and Brazil will turn completely blue! :-)</div>
