[osm-professional] Elevation values

Sometimes people add it to nodes with the 'ele' tag, but it is not usually
done as it is hard to manually put onto nodes and does not really help.
Maps with contour lines (e.g. OpenCycleMap http://www.opencyclemap.org ) use
SRTM data (which is not OSM, but from NASA).

See http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/SRTM
<http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/SRTM>For use with certain OSM tools
there are some other pages. I think these are all about making contour lines
though. If you want to know the elevation of a node then you will probably
have to interpolate SRTM to the node's location. I don't really know the
SRTM data myself, just that it exists.
