I haven't seen an equivalent to Frederik's opinion poll on the
kind of financing model we want. But my impression is that the
majority don't want to see OSMF become a larger, staffed
organisation with fundraisers and the like. There isn't an
appetite for raising significant sums of money from
corporations for OSMF activities. If a future board was
elected with a clear mandate to go in this direction (which I
would personally support) then that would change things.</div>

Just to pre-empt getting too sidetracked on this, my remark had
mainly to do with the expectation that our operations related spend
will increase at least by a factor two to three over the next years
(regardless of technical implementation) simply driven by growth and
not related to a change in our current business model. For the sake
of the argument assume that we are spend £240k per year, clearly
doable per donation drive, but an equally viable scenario could be
24 corporate members at £10k/year.<br>

This was just some food for thought and I don't want to dwell
further on this right now since the board hasn't had a chance to
discuss this outlook (which is based in part on the OWG 5 year
plan). In any case it is extremely unlikely, given growth and the
extremely good deals we have on our hosting infrastructure, that we
are going to be spending less money in the future.<br>
