<div>Haven't looked at the data itself, but from the comments
here, I'd say convert them to nodes. Since in this case the
mapper clearly didn't put very much effort in it, I wouldn't
mind if the history of the first object is lost. I reckon
later you want to identify "empty areas" to be able to
complete the map with a certain level of quality. That is
still easy to achieve if you disregard node-buildings or in
fact the buildings returned by the very query described above.<br>
</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>However do keep in mind that we always build upon the work
of others. We might start with a single building outline of a
row of houses with bad geometry because we had poor imagery.
Then we split them up into individual houses. Then we might
improve their geometry with better imagery or open data. And
next, we might split them up into building parts to model the
different levels.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>Don't be surprised if the mapper working on the next level
is calling -your- work crap if you throw around those kinds of
words too lightly now. <br>
</div>

<div>Even if some of your community have very high quality
thresholds, remember that we always want to accomodate "the
amateur". They might mess things up, but they are the eyes on
the ground we need. And we should aim to help them grow, not
scare them away. Maybe in this case, it would be actually
better to scare that particular mapper away. But sometimes
you'd be surprised, if you give them a chance.</div>
<div><br>

<div>While I do understand an occasional flash of rage (we care
about this project, and it's hard to see it suffer), don't
forget that your flash of rage will be forever associated with
the OSM data. Please try to avoid it. And if it does happen,
please apologize about it - not necesarily to the mapper,
rather to anyone who sees it. In the long run, being a
welcoming community, even in the face of "bad mapping" is
doing the project a better service than making a map
considered perfect by a few people who think they know how
it's done (even if they're probably right).</div>
