map), it is to avoid being terribly doctrinaire. If local
chapters at the subnational level crop up in the United States
and want formal affiliation, that can almost certainly be

At the moment, I don't think there is enough activity in any of
these areas for such regional groups. But type of concern has
arise for the OSGeo Oceania local chapter application. Personally,
I hope OSM gets big enough that there will lots of regional
activity, and if I were still on the board then, I would support
recognising more local chapters in places in the USA that can be
more "local". The LC agreement does allow us to change (and at
extreme case cancel it), so the OSMF can always "carve out"
regions.

So I don't think there are organisations in each of those regions
*yet*, but let's hope there are some day and we can split it down
further. There's no rule that it has to be a 1:1 between LCs &
countries.
