    <p><font face="Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif">A downloadable makes
        more sense. My auto insurance card (which must mandatorily be
        carried in the car) comes as a downloadable PDF that you print
        on paper. So does my health insurance card. About the only
        plastic cards still mailed out are credit/debit cards, grocery
        store loyalty cards (also available as apps), and driver's
        licenses. Everything else arrives as electrons.</font></p>
    <p><font face="Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif">How hard would it be to
        write code for automatic generation of a downloadable PDF file
        for dues-paying members to print at home? I have no idea.<br>

            producing plastic membership cards, then mailing them out
            annually?" The MWG is like all working groups a small set of
            volunteers who run the MWG in their spare time and I have
            yet to hear from its members that they would be willing to
            add this to the MWG's task list. And even then, a plastic
            membership card is IMHO unlikely to quell paranoia any
            better than a self-printed business card would.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
        <p><span style="font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif">Another
            approach to this problem is for the OSMF board to authorize
            community members to use the OSM logo for customizing
            surveyor's vests and then wearing them while collecting
            data. On-line retailers offer them for competitive (=low)
            prices. Wearing surveyor's vests while collecting data would
            allay the concerns of most (but certainly not all)
            suspicious and paranoid neighbors. </span><o:p></o:p></p>
