<p>I don't actually think that detecting if a name is real or not is a big deal. There are just a few common standard naming patterns, everything else can be counted as a ‘real’ name. Going further, it can be a check against presence of certain keywords like ‘track’ ‘trace’, length of the name, presence of numbers in it etc. I believe that with even a few very basic regexps it would be possible to make the right decision in 95%+ cases.</p>
<p>Anyway, if a task on improving user experience and saving time to contributors every day seems a bit difficult at a first glance, this should not be the only reason to decline the enhancement suggestion at all. </p>
<p>I also agree with <a href="https://github.com/vincentdephily" class="user-mention">@vincentdephily</a> that GPS tracks require order in general, now this part of OSM is totally messed up.</p>
