<p>My design suggestion for this is to have the "Go to Home Location" have a permalinkable URL (<code>/:username/home</code>) which opens a sidebar with a reverse-geocoded result for the location and controls for changing it. Closing the sidebar would remove the marker, thus making the mechanism for removal consistent with other features. I would probably follow up with the replacement of the map control on the user setting page with a link like "View/change home location" which goes to <code>/:username/home</code>.</p>
