<p>I stumbled onto this thread, while looking for a way to open "geo:" uri scheme links, much like they work on my phone. I agree with this request to add the ability to search for geo: uris, as that was one of the first things I tried. </p>

<p>It may be possible to do one better. In my search, I also found that using the Javascript function <a href="https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Navigator/registerProtocolHandler">navigator.registerProtocolHandler()</a> Firefox will present to users [the option to setup a protocol handler]. (<a href="https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web-based_protocol_handlers">https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web-based_protocol_handlers</a>). This would make geo: links clickable and I believe Firefox also extends the registration to the operating system.</p>
