<p>I think this is worth discussing further.</p>
<p>However, I think that harvesting emails from OSM - even with the user's consent - is pretty dodgy. Many people just tick whatever boxes are in the UI without reading the content thoroughly. Or, as an alternative interpretation, that the UI needs to call out such "dangerous" permissions more strongly.</p>
<p>My opinion is that we'd need to fix that UI issue before even considering allowing 3rd parties to request email addresses. And get LWG's blessing. Even then, it would make me extremely uncomfortable.</p>
