<p>I've no idea what the timeout is - check the Postgres doco? There might not even be one unless Postgres decides there is a deadlock.</p>
<p>I mean there may be a way to try a lock without blocking but again you would have to check the defaults. By default I'm pretty sure it will block until the lock is release or until the lock operation times out or deadlocks.</p>
