The current problem with languages on the OSM website is this:<br>

<p>As you can see, there's no way of knowing which languages exist.<br>
If a dropdown is technically difficult, how about creating a link or icon with a pop up message listing the available language abbreviations?<br>
For example: two years ago, when I registered, I chose "pt" as the logical abbreviation to use in my account, but found out that, for some reason, there were Portuguese and English strings mixed all over the place. A few weeks ago, I discovered by trial and error, that I should have used "pt-pt", since I use European Portuguese.<br>
I think this is important for newcomers and newbies, and it would improve greatly their experience with OSM website.</p>
