<p>I think it would be great to make it easy for newly signed up users to get connected with their local community.</p>
<p>One idea is to add a map to the signup screen, or maybe a confirmation screen right after they sign up, where the user has the option to click on a map, and the result of that click is to list whatever community forums there are from the OSM community index - <a href="https://github.com/osmlab/osm-community-index">https://github.com/osmlab/osm-community-index</a></p>
<p>Clicking would be optional of course, and it's up to the user to do anything with that info. But I think it would be a good way to let new people know that they are part of a broader community and give them that ability to find it as soon as they get started.</p>
