<p dir="auto">The isn't sorting them, the issue is having to sort them into the order of the requested IDs - the SQL that is used (both before and now without the order) does not guarantee any particular order.</p>
<p dir="auto">I think possibly the <code class="notranslate">find</code> method did sort the returned rows into the order of the ids that were requested but it doesn't seem to be specified in the rails documentation so I didn't realise it was happening.</p>
