<p dir="auto">I really don't understand why this is a problem. If I am zoomed out so that my map covers hundreds of kilometers, and i randomly click somewhere in the middle of two cities, then yes, the routing will be computed from one particular location in one city to another particular location in the other; and yes, if I happen to "snap" to the wrong side of a dual carriageway, this could mean a few kilometers detour. But what is a few kilometers when I'm looking at a distance of 100s of kilometers? One the one hand you say you expect the algorithm to somehow magically snap to a point "on the outskirts" of the place (which can easily mean 10km less), on the other hand you're concerned about going a few kilometers in the wrong direction because your random click snapped to the wrong thing.</p>
<p dir="auto">If you're zoomed out you will get a rough estimate of the distance, if you zoom in you can request a more precise measurement. The modifications that you are suggesting will not fundamentally change this. So why bother?</p>
