<p dir="auto">URLs are standardized in multiple RFCs. Depending on the RFC, a semicolon can either be a valid part of a URL or merely a delimiter between URLs. Mappers using different platforms will encode the semicolon or not depending on their editor and the browser they prefer: <a class="issue-link js-issue-link" data-error-text="Failed to load title" data-id="3438548337" data-permission-text="Title is private" data-url="https://github.com/openstreetmap/openstreetmap-website/issues/6407" data-hovercard-type="issue" data-hovercard-url="/openstreetmap/openstreetmap-website/issues/6407/hovercard?comment_id=3324004178&comment_type=issue_comment" href="https://github.com/openstreetmap/openstreetmap-website/issues/6407#issuecomment-3324004178">#6407 (comment)</a>. Based on my feedback in <a class="issue-link js-issue-link" data-error-text="Failed to load title" data-id="3445940066" data-permission-text="Title is private" data-url="https://github.com/openstreetmap/iD/issues/11438" data-hovercard-type="pull_request" data-hovercard-url="/openstreetmap/iD/pull/11438/hovercard?comment_id=2373393551&comment_type=review_comment" href="https://github.com/openstreetmap/iD/pull/11438#discussion_r2373393551">openstreetmap/iD#11438 (comment)</a>, iD has a rule that tries to validate each semicolon-delimited URL individually, then falls back to validating the whole tag as a whole. We need to decide whether the same order of precedence is appropriate for linkification.</p>
