Dear Yair & Marco,

It is great to see the progress the academic track at SotM makes from year to year, not to mention the outcome of all the research presented at the conferences. I am interested in both understanding how and why volunteers generate data, and what these data sources can be used for. I have published several short and full conference papers, book chapters and journal articles specifically addressing different aspects of OSM (see list below), and used OSM extensively in a number of other publications (e.g. as data source). In my research, I often address problems and explore issues that can have practical impact on OSM (e.g. community retention, or cartographic vandalism). In my role as research faculty at Florida International University, I maintain an active research agenda and conduct both applied and fundamental research where OSM is frequently used. I teach a graduate level introductory GIS class, where OpenStreetMap is introduced to my students as a great, openly accessible resource. In addition, I have given several guest lectures and taught short courses that used OSM to some extent. I serve on multiple committees at my institution, and I previously was the co-chair of the Academic Track at SotM in 2019 and 2020.

List of OSM specific publications:

Juhász, L., Hochmair, H.H.
