</div></div></blockquote><div><br></div><div>So fix the other editors.  Potlatch is notoriously painful when it comes to relations, and it really shouldn't be.  Relations really are the way to go on this because the advantages outweigh the drawbacks by a lot.  Validation tools and editors really need to catch up to this.  The ref= on way model works great in Europe where you only have one route per way and assume only "road" routes, but breaks when you start considering other networks (bicycle, etc), and just gets totally unmanageable in North America (where you might have a half dozen road routes, one or two bike routes and a public transport route or two for good measure sharing the same way).</div>
