</span></font></p><div>There are not the distinct types as there seem to be in German.  What about adding an optional bread=yes/no, pastry=yes/no etc to shop=bakery?  That allows the differentiation in German without distorting the common meaning of the English word.</div>

You have to differentiate baked goods between bread and viennoiseries<br>
(=Bäckerei) vs cakes/desserts (=Feinbäckerei, =pâtisserie). Both are (different)<br>
craftsmanships. And you have to differentiate those from a store that sells sweets.<br>

Of course things often mix up, then you have to decide what prevails.<br>
