bikes, a certain amount of mud will get flung upwards by the wheels at an
angle, missing the mudflaps but not the rider. The same would likely
be true of horse droppings.</p>

Makes sense to me, bicycles can legally use a bridleway in England/Wales.
Practicality will depend upon surface, type of bike and recent weather.<br>
