Hardcourt evokes tennis, and might be clay or gravel for example. If it's a proper field sport, artificial_turf is probably enough, unless you want to distinguish between wet/dry or sand/rubber substrates.<br>

As I said, I feel that's to all-encompassing, including concrete,

Astroturf, as well, as being a trademark* is slightly different, as
it's piled & bedded with sand/water. <br />

* Rotavator - not only a trademark, but also palindromic<br />

<br />
I was looking for an appropriate tag for an artificial sports
pitch surface. The type that's constructed from a combination
of rubber/acrylic/silicon.<br />
<br />
The wiki lists 'DecoTurf' I think this tag should definitely
be discouraged. It's a registered trademark of a company's
specific product, which is not that widely known or used.<br />
<br />
'Artificial' is to generic. 'Hardcourt' seems better but only
16 uses. Any ideas?<br />
