<p>The most confusing thing is when you use one term but mean another...</p>
<p>Let's agree on the definition of what we mean here. Is it:</p>
<p>A) the distance from the surface, measured perpendicular to the surface, of the end of the adit</p>
<p>*** this would probably have to be further refined to be the *shortest* distance from *any* surface</p>
<p>B) the distance one would have to travel to reach the end of the adit</p>

<div class="gmail_extra">Using Depth isnt wrong but I think length is usable to, since adits are usually part of features which have depth.so using length will be less confusing?<br /><br />Cheers</div>
