<p>Hi Andy and Jan,</p>
<p>no problem maintaing the currently defined terminology "prison"
and "operator", for me: as I said it was a bit of hair splitting
and as I hit the send button I also asked myself if maybe "jail"
was an americanism (<i>I'm Italian, I spent some time in the US
but very little time in the UK...</i>).</p>
<p>I think the car_repair vs. vehicle_maintenance (or is it vehicle<b><u>s</u></b>_maintenance??)
issue to be a little bit more important, thus...</p>

be more adequate: AFAIK police forces do not "own" prisons (long

It is true that in some countries a dedicated police force is in
charge of prisons operation, but the "ownership" of the prison
is usually "the government".

That difference might confuse - that's an American rather than a
UK difference, I think. Where "jail" (or even "gaol") is used in
the UK it's essentially a synonym for prison. Ireland I think has
a similar usage to the UK; not sure about other English-speaking
jusidictions worldwide.
