<div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div>I am not happy with this new page.</div><div><br></div><div>This tag is a tag with very strong local restriction: 2823 of a world total of 3166 are in the Polish city of Krakow.</div><div>The vast majority of dual-carriageway roads elsewhere are not tagged in this way.</div><div>This fact should be clearly stated prominently on the wiki page</div><div><br></div><div>Also the wording would need changing.</div><div>"
whether or not a highway is a dual carriageway or divided highway" >>> "
whether or not a <span style="font-family:monospace">highway=*</span> is <u>part of of</u> a dual carriageway or divided highway"</div><div>The problem is that a real-world dual-carriageway "highway" corresponds in OSM to at least two ways tagged with the key "highway" and you are not intending to say, that by adding "dual_carriageway=yes" to a highway=* in in OSM that way were to represent what normally in OSM is represented with two ways.</div><div>But this confusion is fuelled by stating that you can use dual_carriageway=no to indicate that a way does not represent a dual-carriageway real-world road.</div><div><br></div><div>I think that the tag itself is a bad idea, and as it is used essentially only in Krakow, maybe the best thing is to eliminate those localĀ occurrences and also declare "duel_carriageway=*" <a href="http://deprecated.as">deprecated.as</a> quickly as possible.</div><div><b><b><br></b></b></div><div>Volker<b><b><br></b>
